Womens Narrow Dress Shoes – Extremely adamantine to Find

May 23rd, 2010 by superjumpz

Womens narrow dress shoes are very hard to find. The problem is not that they are not made – manufacturers produce their shoes in all sizes and widths imaginable – the problem is that shoe stores simply don’t order them, because there isn’t a high enough demand for them. Finding womens narrow dress shoes is, in fact, harder than finding larger womens sized shoes!

If you are a woman with an exceptionally narrow foot, you may not be as lucky as your wide-footed friends’ say you are! Women with wider feet truly believe that women with tiny feet have it made – but they don’t know the half of it! Being petite may be nice – but shopping for petite shoes is a real big problem! Even when petite sized shoes are found, they are often still too wide to fit a petite and narrow foot!

Some stores carry narrow shoes, but the chain shoe stores and discount stores usually don’t. Specialty clothing stores that sell clothing specifically for petite women often carry shoes, but their selection is typically very limited. What is a woman with narrow feet to do? Well, there are a few options that you can try to find the shoes you want, in the narrow sizes that you need.

Start in the chain stores. You can ask if they carry a specific shoe in a narrow width – in most cases they won’t. However, they may be willing to order it for you. Discount stores will rarely special order anything for anybody, but sometimes the chain shoe stores will – if you ask, and if you pay a deposit up front. You may even be required to pay the full price up front, and you may have to pay more than the shoe sells for to cover shipping and handling.

You next option is to visit a small privately owned shoe store. These shopkeepers really want your business, and in most cases, they will do whatever they can do to get and keep that business! They will special order shoes for you – in the styles that you want. They may even be willing to contact other shoe stores to help you find what you are looking for if they aren’t able to get it for you. You will also enjoy very personalized service in these types of stores that you won’t find in the chain stores and discount stores – of course, you will pay for that service by paying a higher price for the shoes unfortunately.

Your third option is to shop online. There are online shoe stores that specialize in narrow shoes for women. Go to any search engine and type in those words exactly – ‘narrow shoes for women’ and you will be surprised at the results that pop up! There are many advantages to shopping online, and only one disadvantage. The disadvantage is that you cannot try the shoes on before buying them. Therefore, before making a purchase, you need to carefully read the exchange, refund, and return policy on the website. This is vital!

The advantages, however, are numerous. First, you won’t have any difficulty finding the shoes you want in the colors and styles that you like – at a price you can afford, and in a size that fits you. You will probably pay a great deal less for the shoes than you would pay in a traditional offline store, but you will have to pay shipping and handling charges, although they usually don’t add up to very much. You can easily compare prices and styles as well. You don’t have to run around town looking for shoes – you can have them delivered straight to your door. The list of advantages goes on and on!

If you have a petite foot, and you are in need of a source for womens narrow dress shoes, don’t despair. You can find what you are looking for, now that you know exactly where to start looking!

Lanyards For Everyday Use

May 21st, 2010 by superjumpz

People today are busier than ever before and that means we are out and about and on the go more often. It also means that we need ways to carry things when we are on the move. Sure, pockets are convenient and accessible but things do tend to fall out of them and you are at risk of being robbed if you store things in back pockets or jacket pockets. Backpacks are another great way to store things but they are bulky and it is hard to find small items if you need access to them in a hurry. Using a lanyard is another to carry items when you are on the go and they really do not have any disadvantages. They are lightweight, accessible, durable and convenient.

Lanyards have been used for a long time for various reasons. The Army used them for a number of purposes and conference organizers pass them out to participants to display name tags. Lanyard key chains are very popular these days. Neck lanyards in particular are the most convenient and also the most popular but you can get lanyards that can be worn on the wrist or attached to other objects like cameras and MP3 players. Basically, it is a rope or code with a knot or clip to hold it together around your neck and prevent things from falling off it. You can attach small items such as keys, a compass, a whistle, or any other light and small object you need easy access to throughout the day. There are many different types available and they come in many styles and colors so you will have no trouble finding one to complement your personal style. You can even get a custom lanyard that is made just for you!

They can be bought almost anywhere including department stores, toy stores, grocery stores, luggage stores and even some convenience stores. Many stores sell them near the front cash registers and it is also possible to find them online. Typically you will pay a couple of dollars for a good one but some will be more expensive, depending on how they were made and what materials they are made of. If you are looking for a more convenient way to carry smaller items that you need quick access to throughout the day consider investing in one the many different types of lanyards available on the market.

Adidas Trainers – The History

May 20th, 2010 by superjumpz

The town of Herzogenaurach, near Hamburg, Germany had a huge impact on the story of the training shoe. In the year of 1948 the nicknamed ‘godfather’ of training shoes, adidas was launched on the world. Adolf Dassler, a cobbler working in Herzogenaurach, decided on a name for his new company. He combined his nickname ‘Adi’ with the first three letters of his surname Dassler, and the name adidas was born. He also decided to use lowercase ‘a’ to make the name stand out from rivals. When he died in 1978 aged 78 he held more than 700 patents related to sports shoes and other athletic equipment. He was honored by becoming the first non-american to be introduced into the American Sporting Goods Industry Hall of Fame. Adidas was also groundbreaking away from the sports field by becoming the first sports brand to sponsor non-athletes (Run DMC).

In 1949 adidas added the three stripes to its trainers to strengthen the shoe and add extra stability to the foot, the trademark that is now recognized around the world was launched.

Adi Colour

Adi colour was released as an interactive shoe; it was plain white with its three stripes to match. The shoes were made in hi and lo versions and adidas supplied a set of marker pens so you could colour the shoes as you wanted.

Dublin

One of the ‘City’ series of shoes, the Dublin was developed in 1970’s early 1980’s as part of the leisure category. The city models were a notable step away from the performance shoes. The colours were extremely important, and this Dublin model has the same silhouette, flat shoe and coloured sued upper design common to the ‘European Capital City’ series. These were also popular with the football fans, too.

Forest Hills

These tennis shoes were released in the late 1970’s Forest Hills are very popular with UK football fans. Only 400 pairs of the yellow soled version originally entered the UK and they were all bought by Wade Smith in Liverpool. The ordinary shoe has a white sole.

SL72

This super light (SL) running/jogging shoe was launched for the 1972 Olympics (hence the 72) and was a more subdued colour than the SL73.

Gazelle

This all round training shoe was launched in 1968 and has a flat sole and soft velour leather upper. The gazelle had a huge following with UK football fans and came in a large range of colours the pink one being a rare example.

Throughout the history of trainers, domination of the market comes and goes and in the mid 1970’s the top eight were described as ‘adidas and the Seven Dwarves’. And even though adidas may not be the current major player in world trainer marketplace, you need to bear the old saying ‘form is temporary, class is permanent’ firmly in mind.

Basketball Related Products That I Recommend

May 19th, 2010 by superjumpz

What better way to support one of your favorite players in the NBA than by buying a t-shirt that has their name and team all over it? The ‘Nickname Player’s t-shirts at the NBA’s online store are pretty cool. The playoffs are happening right now, the weather is getting nicer and nicer out, and you potentially need to update your wardrobe. The shirt that I recommend is the Derrick “Poohdini” Rose t-shirt. On the front is Derrick’s nickname given to him by his grandmother covering the Chicago Bull’s logo. On the back is his last name, Rose, above his jersey number, 1, with a picture of him in red right in between. Derrick’s jersey was one of the top selling jerseys in the NBA this season. He has led his Bull’s to the playoffs for the second straight year averaging more points per game in the regular season as well as the playoffs and is talented enough to have his very own customized t-shirt. Without Ben Gordon Derrick has had to step up as a leader on his team. Some other notable shirts that they have are Dwyane Wade, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony. With your name included in a list of guys like this you know you’re already a big shot. Derrick Rose is only 21 years old and is already one of the most watched and admired players in the game. So go out there and support one of your favorite NBA player’s today by getting their t-shirt, I recommend the D-Rose one.

Another product that I recommend, but one that I also own, is the Derrick Rose Swingman red road jersey made by Adidas. Derrick Rose ranked 4th among all NBA players this season in jersey sales (from the NBA store in New York as well as the online NBA store) this season. Made of thick mesh material with the player’s name, number, NBA team name and logo, as well as the Adidas and NBA logo embroidered on for long lasting durability. The bright red color shows off your Bulls pride every time you wear it. Due to the thick mesh material and embroidered logos you probably will not want to play any pick-up games in this jersey as it may be rather uncomfortable and may cause irritation. This jersey is perfect for showing off your love for the Bulls courtside or for tailgating before the game. Also, because this Swingman version is much cheaper than the Authentic one, you can spend your money on other valuable items. Pick up your road red Adidas Swingman jersey today and start showing love for your Bulls.

When it comes to playing basketball a very important product that you need to focus on are the types of basketball shoes you wear. There are many different kinds of shoes to choose from and making the right chose could be hard. You want a shoe that can fit your purpose on the court. The shoe that I have and recommend is the Adidas TS Cut Creator Derrick Rose shoes. I am 6 foot 2 inches tall and tend to cut in and out of people on the court to try and get to the rim to score. Doing this involves speed, agility, precision, and support. The TS Cut Creator shoe provides you with all of the above. I typically play basketball outdoors on street courts and inside every so often on wood floors. What I have experienced from other shoes in the past, particularly other Adidas shoes, is that the traction and stickiness of the rubber sole does not last as long as I would like. It tends to lose its grip after a little while so I needed a shoe that can help me out in that department. The TS Cut Creator is great on gripping to the pavement when I need it to. Just watch Derrick Rose play and you will see that the shoe performs well for all the right reasons. Another cool feature about the TS Cut Creator is the 360 degree ventilation system they incorporated. With past shoes I noticed that after a couple games my feet would sweat tremendously, sometimes causing my socks to slip off my ankle and ball up in my shoe causing discomfort. The 360 degree ventilation helps solve this problem so my feet could stay dryer on the court and also cause less discomfort. The price on these shoes have gone down since I first purchased them (they were over $100 when I got them). Adidas came up with ‘FORMOTION’ technology for this shoe as well, “FORMOTION is a heel system that is de-coupled allowing it to adapt to your individual running style. Your foot experiences a much smoother, balanced and natural touchdown with FORMOTION beneath your feet. FORMOTION Road is specifically designed for asphalt and even surfaces. It provides a more natural touchdown and transition from heel to toe.” I have definitely noticed a smooth platform beneath my foot while playing basketball in these shoes and I have to credit Adidas for making such a great basketball shoe. The shoe is also pretty stylish compared to other shoes. With its black body and white and red accents the shoe can match with most clothes too, if that is what you are in to. You can also get it in other colors if this one does not suit your style well. For the price of the shoe it is well worth it for all the features it comes with and how well the shoe performs on the court. I recommend this shoe and I plan on sticking with the Creator line from now on.

All of the products that I have recommended relate to one of my favorite NBA players, Derrick Rose. I may be a partial to my Chicago Bulls but the products I have recommended can go with almost any NBA star in the league. Just substitute your favorite player for the t-shirt and jersey and you are all set.

The History of Trainers – Part One

May 18th, 2010 by superjumpz

In the first of our four part series looking at the world history of trainers, we look at the period from 1917 to 1972. This period includes a selection of some of the first trainers produced including the Stan Smith from Adidas and the Pro-Keds Royal Plus.

1917 – Converse All Star

Launched in 1917 and taking the Chuck Taylor name from 1923 in honour of the world famous basketball player, the shoe has been a favourite in the music world and has been associated with Snoop Dogg and bands including The Ramones and The Strokes. The shoe also featured in the film “I, Robot” starring Will Smith. The trainer’s classic status, history and styling should mean it is around for many years to come.

1964 – Adidas Stan Smith

Quality design and still popular across the world since it’s launch as the first all-leather performance tennis shoe. The shoe has been re-issued in many colours over the years but this is the classic white model, combining retro and athletic fashion. These trainers go with any outfit.

1968 – Puma Suede

The basic design of these trainers, coupled with the wide variety of colours, these are one of the world’s best loved shoes. The 1990s brought about a revival of these Puma classics which can be worn with virtually anything and still look good.

1969 – Adidas Superstar

This was the first low top basketball shoe to be made and is known by millions as the “shell toe”, a feature that was included to protect the toes of the players. A favourite on the hip hop scene with its chunky fit and styling, Run-DMC released the song “My Adidas” in recognition of the shoe. The trainer, worn by basketball legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar when they were released, can be seen worn across the globe today including in every US prison!

1971 – Pro-Keds Royal Plus

Available as either a high or low top, these trainers were easily recognisable by their red and navy stripes. Developed for the basketball court, these Keds were worn by Nate Archibald of the Kansas City Kings.

1972 – Adidas SL 72

With the ‘SL’ standing for Super Light, these trainers were designed for the 1972 Olympics in Munich and were incredibly light. These trainers featured a built in heel counter and were re-issued in 2004.

That’s it for the first instalment, next time we will look at the period up to 1987 which includes the birth of the mighty Jordan.

What to Look For in a New Soccer Cleat

May 18th, 2010 by superjumpz

Choosing the right soccer cleat can play a major role in your performance on the field. There are so many different cleats to choose from these days and it’s not an easy decision to make. There are many expensive options that make choosing the right cleat a tough process, so this guide was created to help you understand how to choose the best cleat for your situation!

Before even looking at the options, you must first decide what you’re willing to spend on a pair of cleats. The price of a cleat can range anywhere from $30 to over $200. Just like with anything in life, you get what you pay for. The more expensive options do offer better technology and are made with better materials which can only help your game.

There are different types of cleats, for different surfaces. The studs on the bottom vary depending on the type of surface. If you spend most of your time playing on harder surfaces, then a hard ground cleat is perfect for you. If it rains a lot where you play, then chances are the field isn’t hard and a longer studded cleat or six studded cleats are what to look for. If you play on all types of surfaces, you may want to consider interchangeable cleats, which allow you to adapt to any field type. If it’s affordable, many people own a pair of six studded cleats (screw-ins) and molded for harder surfaces. Don’t buy a shoe based on its looks, if it doesn’t meet your criteria!

The next part of this process is to consider the weight of the cleat. With lighter shoes, you’ll only improve your speed. Unfortunately, it won’t make a huge difference but when you’re carrying lighter weight, the faster you can move.

Choosing the right material is a huge part of this process. As a soccer player myself, I’ve always opted for real Kangaroo Leather. Many companies have turned to synthetic materials, due to animal groups protesting. Nike, Adidas and Puma all make synthetic options that feel very similar to real leather. The better synthetic shoes available have been getting great reviews over the last few years. Keep in mind, this is only for the higher end synthetic shoes. The cheaper ones will feel like plastic, as they’re made with cheaper materials. In my opinion, Kangaroo Leather is still the way to go since it will mold to your feet and feel like a slipper.

Depending on how often you plan to use the cleat, the life span will vary. I’ve had cleats last 6 months that were extremely high end! I was playing 5 days per week and didn’t bother to take great care of them either. If the leather holds up, just keep an eye on the studs. Once the studs wear down, that’s when it’s time for a new pair. Screw in studs will last longer and you can always purchase new studs.

They now make different shoes for different positions, but don’t look into this too much. The options are different shoes for a better shot or even better ball control. At the end of the day, if you don’t have a good shot or ball control, you should be working on that during practice!

As I mentioned, there are so many options out there. There’s a huge selection online, but I always recommend trying on a boot first since every player’s foot is different. The best deals can certainly be found online though. Good luck!

May 17th, 2010 by superjumpz

In order that a person likes the gift and remembers you for a long time, you should try to make that gift as unique as possible. Here we try to expand our list of unique gifts which you cqn present to your coworkers and friends. (both in the expensive as well as in the inexpensive category).

1)

For the Consistent Traveller :- You can present to him/her a branded luxury watch.

This can be a unique gift, especially for your coworkers in the Marketing department. These people have to travel a lot, have hectic work schedules and always have to reach important meetings / customers at the right time. So, a stylish luxury watch would be highly appreciated by your friend.

Moreover, if the person is an international traveller, then it makes more sense to gift him a watch which can show different time zones. This would further add to your thoughtfulness and the recipient is bound to remember you even when he is in another country.

For both men and women, there are various famous brands to choose from:- Tag Heur, Omega, Longines, Tissot, Swatch, Citizen, Titan etc. Take your pick. Some of them might be expensive, but worth the price and your valuable relationship with your friend.

These branded watches can surely be counted among the unique holiday gifts for coworkers.

Good Trail Runners

May 16th, 2010 by superjumpz

It is time to hit the trails and good trail runners are an important part of your running gear. All trail running shoes are made with dependability in mind while details like outer sole grip, cushioning and function vary.

Some trail running shoes are made with extreme elements in mind, while others are made for the usual path obstacles such as rocks, roots and uneven terrain. See what is said about the treads and soles. Also, you will want a cushioning thick enough for comfort but you will also want to slightly feel the terrain under your feet. Manufacturers now make cushioning that is not too thick yet provide sufficient padding.

Although companies such as New Balance, Adidas and Saucony are comparable in prices on trail shoes, they accommodate a lot of varying considerations. Read carefully what you are looking for. Be sure to buy a shoe that meets your physical needs, as well as what will meet your needs on the trail or path, you intend to walk, run or hike on. Standard rules apply; allow a space, one quarter of an inch to half an inch, between your biggest toe and the front of the shoe, fit for immediate comfort. No breaking in mentality. Look for a snug fit in the heel.

History of the Boxing Glove

May 15th, 2010 by superjumpz

3000 years ago, the time of the Greeks, men would rap their hands in leather strips in an attempt, to protect their hands in fighting tournaments, boxing fights and wars. It was an attempt to provide protection for their hands – there was however never any really padding in these ancient boxing gloves, just leather to protect the boxer’s hands.

Generally the majority of people have make assumptions that the whole boxing glove was made to protect the person being hit. The bones in the hand however are small and incredibly fragile so the padding providing the gloves is as much as protecting the person being clobbered and person doing the clobbering – fighting, martial arts and boxing are pretty much two way – you cannot fight with yourself!

Following the end of the Greeks, we saw the Romans pick up on boxing as form of entertainment, a form of a sport – the passion died down though when it was turned into a life and death type sport in the gladiator empires. They did however continue to use leather strips as gloves – being Romans though, they decided to take it another level – metal studs, spikes, were attached to the metal as replacement from the leather strips, resulting in boxing match matches that had the losing fighter ending up dead or completely torn apart with injuries, scars and terrible long lasting effects.

In the year 30 BC boxing was made illegal by Romans in all Roman cities and provinces. The distaste for boxing was so passionate that entire Roman Empire had it banned, resulting in all Western civilization following this concept for nearly 1500 years.

Towards the start of the 1700s and the late 1600s boxing started to reappear. It was mostly however bare knuckled and boned fighting, this did not last long though, in fact during this development we slowly saw the adding of padding and safety was consider.

Jack Broughton was the first British boxing champion – the first icon you could reference in British Boxing history in the early 1700s. He is considered by many to the inventor of the modern day boxing gloves – not forgetting that during his time in pioneering boxing (the development of gloves and boxing equipment slowly developed after padding) that the major public eye fights were still non glove assigned fighters and were fighting bare knuckled – going all out.

Due to the amount of casualties and deaths in these matches, a decision was made and boxing fans and communities started to apply rules – in the year 1866, bare knuckle fighting was over and boxing gloves were put in to practice. There were a lot of fanatics out there, who did not like the idea and were still passionate about the raw fighting.

In the year 1866, John Graham Chambers, published in London, the now famous Queensbury Rules. Many things were put into practice and not forgetting padding usage was made onto boxing gloves for all matches and by the beginning of the 20th century, the whole boxing scene was Queensbury rules – everywhere.

John L. Sullivan was the last champion of the bare knuckled fighting era, his championship was lost however in 1892 to the first of Marquise (the now modern day standard fighters) of Queenbury rules champions – the “Gentlemen Jim” Corbett. Jim Corbett won the title against John L. Sullivan in 1892 and both boxers wore padding punch gloves.
